About this drive

Going-to-the-Sun Road is one of America's greatest engineering achievements and most spectacular drives. Completed in 1932, this 50-mile highway bisects Glacier National Park in Montana, climbing over the Continental Divide at Logan Pass (2,026m). The narrow, cliff-hugging road carves through towering peaks, past cascading waterfalls, glacial lakes, and ancient forests. Wildlife is abundant, with mountain goats, grizzly bears, and bighorn sheep frequently spotted roadside. The road is open only in summer and draws visitors from around the world.
